* In addition Abraham gives Telcel team the fifth championship of the specialty

CDMX, November 12, 2017 - The Telcel team, the most successful in the country in the era of competitions on oval-type tracks, wrote another successful page in its glittering history, this time through Abraham Calderón, who proclaimed himself twice champion of NASCAR Mexico Series.

It was enough for him to finish in fourth place this Sunday in the grand final of the championship, played in an overcrowded Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, to seal the title as a fitting culmination to a brilliant season.

After starting in the eighth position, the Telcel drivers made a very consistent and, above all, intelligent race, knowing that what mattered today was not the checkered flag - he had already won five in the season - but the coveted championship.

Telcel team now has five championships in the NASCAR Mexico era, which began in 2007, after titles by Germán Quiroga in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons, and by Abraham Calderón in 2014 and, now, 2017. Do not forget, for course, the championship conquered in 2004 by Carlos Pardo, in the then called Corona Challenge.

With victories in Puebla, Aguascalientes, Pachuca, Guadalajara and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, this season was, nevertheless, the confirmation of Calderón as a first-class driver in the team led by Jimmy Morales, as he achieved a title with great authority, a lot of maturity and moments of inspiration at the wheel.

With this great journey throughout the campaign, Abraham made the grand final of the championship a mere formality, as Rubén Rovelo, who barely finished in eighth, was supposed to win and expect a catastrophe from the Telcel driver in the capital's one mile (1,609 kilometers) oval.

That catastrophe never came. Abraham had rhythm to move among the pointers, but it was not necessary, he just had to stay away from problems in a mostly flat layout, which historically causes serious problems to the contenders.

The title of the stellar category of Telcel Presents NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series was not the only one for him, since, in the Tractor Trucks, the asphalt monsters finished in the fourth position and won a second championship of the spectacular category.

"We made it," said Calderón, "we are two-time champions in NASCAR and two-time champions in Tracts, we do not have the excitement, I'm very happy, it was a great season, quite difficult."

Euphoric at the end of the day in the capital building, he acknowledged that "Telcel team worked very hard, this is thanks to them, behind the cars there are many people who work to get to the track and have fast cars. They make it possible, this I dedicated to God, to my family, to my girlfriend, to all of them."

The end of the season featured the following results for the rest of the Telcel team's lineup: José Luis Ramírez (# 08 Telcel-BitCoin-Infinitum-PrestoFlam-Castrol Edge) was eighth, Enrique Baca (# 4 Telcel-Peak) closed eleventh and Luis Felipe Montaño (# 17 Telcel-FedEx) in fourteenth. In the NASCAR Challenge support category, Luis Michael Dörrbecker (# 1 FedEx-Telcel) took second place.
